【장인 식물 아이조메(藍染)】
쪽은 식물로 만들어지는 천연 염료입니다. 식물의 잎을 건조시키고 그 잎을 100일 이상 발효와 숙성시켜 만든 '구모'를 이용해 염색을 합니다. 구모는 남염색 염료의 근원이 되는 것인데 그대로는 물에 녹지 않고 염료가 되지 않기 때문에 다시 회즙석회주 등을 섞어 발효시켜 염색액을 만듭니다. 그 염색액에 천을 담갔다가 꺼내 공기에 닿게 하는 작업을 몇 번이나 반복해서 조금씩 원하는 색에 가까워집니다.
