검도복에 사용되는 일본 전통의 누빔 원단을 식물 아이조메 염색 공예로 마감합니다. 표면의 요철이 미묘한 음영을 만들어 특징적인 인디고 블루가 됩니다. 자연스러운 줄무늬와 얼룩감은 독특하며 다이아 무늬와 알갱이의 2종류의 누빔이 하나의 원단에 꿰매고 있는 개성적인 원단이 매력적입니다. 촘촘하게 실이 박혀 있어 매우 튼튼하고 단단하면서도 원단 원래의 부드러움도 가지고 있습니다. 소매를 감아 올리면 모던한 백매실을 발염한 남인화포(藍印花布) 패치 워크 디자인이 보입니다.
【장인 식물아이조메(職人植物藍染)】
쪽(藍)은 식물로 만들어지는 천연 염료입니다. 식물의 잎을 건조시키고 잎을 100일 이상 발효 숙성시켜 만든 쑥을 이용하여 염색을 합니다. 쑥은 아이조메 염료의 근원이 되지만 그대로는 물에 녹지 않고 염료가 되지 않기 때문에 다시 잿물, 석회 그리고 술 등을 섞어 발효시켜 염색액을 만듭니다. 그 염색액에 천을 담갔다가 꺼내 공기에 닿게 하는 작업을 몇 번이나 반복해서 조금씩 원하는 색에 가까워집니다.
